I always had a little astigmatism in both eyes, but ended up developing this in my 30's. It was slow in the beggninig, but when I hit 35 it advanced really fast.
I'm 38 now, I'm mostly blind in one eye, and I will do a corneal transplantation next year.
I should had done a couple of years ago, but after the pandemic hit I decided to spend as little time in hospitals as possible. Now that things are back to normal I will start to look into it again.
