Having started coding in the mid-80's I really don't get it.

I was thrilled when I finally had the opportunity to use graphical workstations.

You can have the best of both worlds, as TCL/TK did back in the day. And FVWM.

You could expand your software in seconds.

The best of both worlds is having a REPL, just like the Xerox PARC and ETHZ workstations did.

My first startup was an heavy Tcl shop, thanks to it I learned never again to depend on languages without support for JIT/AOT on their canonical implementations.

My team was responsible for writing FFI wrappers.

Blame Sun for focusing on Java instead of the true gem of TCL/TK.
