Did you write fiction or nonfiction books?

Nonfiction about my adventures or guide books. I find it much easier than fiction, though I'm an Engineer and not overly "creative" when it comes to writing.

This needs some syd mead

Which language exactly? I am currently studying kanji with anki during my commute.

I am studying mandarin, I could probably be using my time doing some writing in my commute. I use a plethora of apps / download youtube videos / rosetta stone

Why do data scientists have such a high salary? Everyone seems to be one at the moment.

They don't at all. At typical companies, their salaries are maybe a bit higher than software engineers. At top companies though, their base and bonus is the same, but stock is about half (unless you're a core DS or have an AI/ML PhD). Also, 4-5 years working on a PhD could have been spent gaining experience as a software engineer, which means that all total a data scientist at FANG will make $100k to $250k per year less than a software engineer at the same age.

do they? in the article 136k w/ 4-6 yrs exp really isn't a lot, especially since it has a higher % of PHDs.

i became a data scientist because I love that type of work. I like solving puzzles and diving deep into data and helping to drive decisions. I imagine others want to be / or have become a data scientist for that reason.

We did it guys. That server was smashed by the repellant hammer of hype.

It's some awesome, that a lot of people here wrote a book. I would like to write one too, but I think, that I don't have enough experience, or it will suck.

Start writing a blog, now. That will:

1. Give you practice finishing smaller written works before you work your way up to a much larger book project.

2. Let you practice all of the various skills in writing.

3. Improve your writing/marketing based on the feedback you get from people. Publishing on the web is a fantastic feedback loop for learning what resonates with people and what doesn't.

4. Build an audience for your writing. Set up an email list and put a link to it on your blog.

The way you get experience writing is the way you get experience in any other artistic pursuit: practice and feedback.
